NvqDo you know anyone who has every done an
Nvq or have you done one yourself...? Now you can do an
Nvq in all kinds of things, they are a great way to learn and become qualified in a certain subject / trade. My eldest son did an
Nvq in chefing at our local pub. He started off working there at the age of fifteen, he was a pot wash, working a Saturday night and Wednesday evening, and he earned a fortune in the holidays. He really enjoyed working in the kitchen and within a year he was promoted as assistant chef, preparing salads and some simple starters, he watched the chefs cook almost everything. He was learning so much and as you can imagine he was doing excellent in his food technology at school, which he chose for GCSE. When it came to the college open evenings I was worried when he told me he was going to work full time at the pub. I was not too keen on the idea as I was not aware the pub could arrange an
Nvq teacher to visit him on a weekly basis, eventually giving him a qualification in cheffing. Throughout doing his
Nvq levels he was doing full cheffing and earning well. He passed all of his tests and is now the head chef of the pub; he loves it and hopes to move to Australia in the near future to work in a top restaurant.
